Hello, It’s Me

Yeah, I did use an Adele lyric to title this post. This is me at Mesa Falls in Eastern Idaho.

Born and raised in the suburbs of Portland, Oregon, I graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho in 2015 with my bachelor’s in English. Since then I have been working as a freelance editor and administrative assistant for a local office.

Let me just say that I love school. If I’m being frank, I’m pretty good at being a student. Since I was a kid I knew what I wanted to study and where I wanted to go. After graduating, I ran into a bit of a problem. I hadn’t actually thought of life after college.

But after a long year of denial over not being a student anymore, I’ve come to accept adulthood. Meaning, I’ve finally decided to let myself enjoy this new stage in life.

A huge reason I got my degree in English is because I freakin’ love reading. I try to read about a book every week and I’m not a snob toward any genre, though historical fiction is my favorite. My ideal day is spent reading, sleeping, and eating.

Since my ideal day probably isn’t too healthy, I have a few counter hobbies, i.e. running, hiking, and photography. All of which, I’ve discovered, require a decent amount of stamina, endurance, and flexibility. These hobbies are more recent developments, so it’s been fun trying to figure stuff out. Like shooting in automatic mode is not as fun as manual. Or running will make your knees cry but also make your person feel like you’ve accomplished something. Hiking taught me bug spray is a necessity outdoors.

I’ve been married nearly two years to the most incredible man I know. I am low-key obsessed with my brothers and sisters (there’s 12 of them!). And I dream of puppies daily.

What are some new hobbies you’re trying out? Any advice for an amateur runner-hiker-photographer-blogger?

  1. The waterfall behind you makes me think of my love for Whitewater rafting. There are such beautiful sights and sounds on the river. I also like archery, and hope to continue shooting my bow this summer. I also love to read. At present, I’m having the best time blog-hopping. Lots of reading doing that. I’m a bit old to start too many new hobbies, especially when my old hobbies suit me so well. Here’s an aside…when I first started reading your blog, I thought to myself [well actually out loud], she reminds me of Rory of “Gilmore Girl” fame. Ever watched that series? It’s on Netflix.

    1. I’ve never been whitewater rafting, I’m afraid water is a bit terrifying for me. I’m really fond of land.

I am very familiar with Rory, as I have watched all the seasons available and totally looking forward to the newest season coming out soon. So thank you for that very kind, and reassuring, compliment.

      1. There are 7 seasons total…all done and dusted on Netflix. Oh! I like land too, and only like to play on the water, not in it. I can’t swim a lick. Anyways, life is full of fun things to capture our hearts. Sometimes, those that challenge us the most are the most wonderfully rewarding!
